After the establishment of China Medical University Hospital, the surgery division has thrived thanks to the endeavor of former chief surgeons – Dr. Xie Guo-lian, Dr. Wang De-yuan, Dr. Yang Qing-qiang, Dr. Lee Quan-sen, Dr. Hong Qi-bin, Dr. Wu Ming-zhen, Dr. Li Ming-chung, Dr. Yang Mei-du, and Dr. Zheng Long-bin. We are now able to usher in new technology and ideas and make contribution to the hospital’s construction of a well-rounded subspecialty system, including digestive surgery (Hepatobiliary, intestine, and stomach) and endocrine surgery.

 

Through the endeavor of past chief surgeons – Dr. Xie Guo-lian, Dr. Wang De-yuan, Dr. Yang Qing-qiang, Dr. Lee Quan-sen, Dr. Hong Qi-bin, Dr. Wu Ming-zhen, Dr. Li Ming-chung, Dr. Yang Mei-du, Dr. Zheng Bin-long, and Dr. Wang Hui-chang – the surgery division has grown rapidly from its inception and is now able to usher in new technology and ideas and make contribution to the hospital’s construction of a complete subspecialty system.

 

The range of general surgery is quite big, covering surgery-related problems in common skin tumors, thyroid and parathyroid disease, gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary and pancreatic spleen and other abdominal tumors, abdominal emergency problems, and hernia,As the surgery division in a top teaching hospital, we have three missions:
 

Minimally invasive surgery will be our top priority, and we will introduce robot-arm surgery systems so as to reach the goal of telesurgery.

We aim at integrating clinical and basic research that is both innovative and practical. The improvement of quality and quantity or research papers is also our goal.

We train surgeons that are both skillful and caring in order to become a top surgery teaching hospital.
